KABUL: (Middle East Press) The Afghan national security forces foiled a large attack by Taliban militants in southern Helmand province.
The provincial government media office following a statement said Sunday that the coordinated attacks was launched by dozens of Taliban militants.
The statement further added Taliban militants attacked several check posts of the Afghan national security forces in Khanshin district but the large scale attack was successfully foiled by Afghan forces.
Taliban militants suffered casualties after they were pushed back by Afghan national security forces, the statement said, adding that various types of weapons including Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) launchers along with 1000 rounds of machine gun bullets were seized following the attack.
The statement also added Afghan national security forces discovered and seized a massive collection of explosives and ammunition following a clearing operation in Garamser district on Saturday.
The Taliban militants group has not yet commented regarding the report.
