Mortar Shell Hits School In Laghman, Killing Two Students

MEP: As a result of a mortar shell attack, targeting the Shahid Mawlawi school in Laghman province, two students were killed and seven others injured.

Sarhadi Zowak, a spokesman for the governor of Laghman told the Middle East Press, the incident occurred at around 10:00 am today (February 25) in Basraam region.

He said the mortar rounds fired by insurgents landed on the school and as a result, two students were killed and seven others sustained injuries.

No individual or group claimed responsibility for the incident and the armed Taliban have not comment to the local official’s remarks.

According to another report, school teachers strike ended in Qarghaye district of Laghman province.

Mohammad Hazrat Mujadadi, Laghman Provincial Education Department said a number of professors in the schools of Qarghaye district due to lack of distribution of residential land, of what had gone on strike ten days ago.

According to him, the strike has been ended today in cooperation with the governor, provincial council members, senators and influential people and the striking teachers also presented to their duties.

He did not provide information about whether they promised to the teachers of distributing lands.

52 schools with the capacity of 33455 students and 646 teachers in the district of Qarghaye is active.
