MEP: A commander of National Army Company in the district of Sozma Qala of Sar-e-Pol province, joint the armed Taliban rank with eleven of his men, officials and local sources said Sunday.
Maulawi Noor Mohammad Baig, Chairman of the provincial council told the Middle East Press, the men were previously responsible for providing security in the village of Gorkab that last night with their military equipment have joined the armed Taliban.
He said their equipment includes a military tank, weapons, Kalashnikovs, rocket and Pica.
Meanwhile, a source who asked not to be named, said the father of the commander of the battalion, has been appointed as the armed Taliban shadow governor in Dasht-e-Qala district of northern Takhar province and based on the advice and guidance of his father, joined the Taliban.
However, the Taliban have said they have captured some soldiers from the national army in the district of Sozma Qala.
Despite a lot of efforts, the Middle East Press correspondent did not manage to catch the provincial security officials’ comments.
