NATO Strike Killed Taliban Chief in Laghman
KABUL: (Middle East Press) an infamous commander along with at least four other Taliban insurgents were killed following an airstrike in eastern Laghman province.
Local government officials said the airstrike was carried out by NATO-led coalition forces in Alingar district on Friday.
A security official, speaking on the condition of secrecy, said the dead Taliban leader was identified as Zarqawi.
The official further added that Zarqawi was involved in major terrorist activities in Alingar and other districts of Laghman province.
He said Zarqawi was leading a group of 15 insurgents and Afghan national security forces have long been looking to arrest him in order to restrict the group’s activities.
The Taliban insurgent group has not commented about the report yet.
