
The poll asked more than 3,000 of its readers from Germany and 40 other countries to define the world’s the world’s top liars of 2015.
More than 39 percent of those surveyed crowned the German chancellor with the “liar of the year” title.
Around 21 percent of those surveyed thought Barack Obama deserved to be called the biggest liar. Recep Tayyip Erdogan received 18 percent of the respondents’ votes. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko are close on the heels of the “fantastic three” with 8.05 percent and 7.81 percent respectively.
On the contrary, Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani and his Syrian counterpart, Bashar al-Assad, were classed as honest policy-makers, gaining only 0.03 and 0.10 percent of the votes, respectively.
According to the poll, Germans also consider Russian President Vladimir Putin and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras as honest policy-makers.
The author of the article, while summarizing the poll’s results, noted that it was Angela Merkel who Time magazine named “Person of the Year”.
