One name added in Afghan presidential election candidates list

KABUL: (MEP) – The Independent Electoral Complaints Commission of Afghanistan announced Tuesday that another candidate has been added to the list of presidential election candidates.

Abdul Satar Sadat, chief of the Independent Electoral Complaints Commission told reporters that a presidential candidate was added to the list of candidates after the complaints review was completed.

Mr. Sadat further added that 76 candidates were also added to the list of provincial council candidates, after 1,054 complaints which were registered with the Electoral Complaints Commission were reviewed.

He said the final list of the candidates was forwarded to the Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan (IEC), which will be announced in the near future.

Sadat also added that 40 candidates were removed from the initial list of provincial council candidates, due to the lack of proper education documents.

In the meantime, the Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan (IEC) spokesman, Noor Mohammad Noor has said that the final list of candidates for presidential and provincial council council elections will be announced in the near future.
