KABUL: (MEEP) – A new chapter of peace talks with the Taliban is going to commence in UAE in near future, according to Afghan High Peace Council (HPC).
After a long time, the high peace council has once again talked of resume of peace talks, saying the dialogues are going to take place with the leaders of Taliban.
“A common demand should take place for the resume of peace talks. Mullah Omar and his close associates should come forward to begin the process which is a national process and also demanded by the Afghan people,” said Qazi Muhammad Amin Waqad, a member of peace council.
A former prominent Taliban figure, Sayed Muhammad Akbar Agha, refused to confirm or reject possible resume of peace talks but stated it was the right time for peace talks between the government and Taliban.
Formal and informal talks have been taking place for the last few years between the government and Taliban but no fruitful result have come so far.
