Police arrest killer of Dr. Abdullah’s campaigner in Sar-e-Pul

KABUL: (MEP) – Afghan police arrested a suspected militant who killed a tribal elder in northern Sar-e-Pul province of Afghanistan.

The interior ministry following a statement announced Monday that suspected target-killer was recognized as Qari Abdul Sami, who is the military in charge of the Taliban militants group in Sar-e-Pul province.

The statement further added that the suspected militant was arrested on Sunday morning during a special military operation conducted by Afghan police in Lati village of Kohistanat district.

Interior ministry also added that Afghan police seized an AK-47 rifle from the detained militant.

Haji Mohammad Yaseen, who was believed to be Dr. Abdullah’s electoral campaigner, was killed on Friday evening in Laghman village at Kohistanat district.

Though the interior ministry denied Haji Moahmmad Yaseen had any links with the election campaign, however a spokesman for Dr. Abdullah Abdullah confirmed that Haji Yaseen was involved in election campaign in favor of Dr. Abdullah.
