Punjabi Taliban Vows to Raise Insurgency Actions in Afghanistan

KABUL: (Middle East Press) A significant militant group of Pakistani Taliban – Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has vowed to increase insurgency actions in Afghanistan by shifting the group’s focus from Pakistan.

The announcement by Punjabi Taliban was made on Friday, saying that the group would abandon insurgency activities inside the country.

The group’s chief Ismatullah Muawiya said Punjabi Taliban will detain the group’s practical jihadist role to Afghanistan in view of deteriorating situation in the region and internal situation of Pakistani jihadist movement.

The remarks by Muawiya were made through a booklet faxed to the media on Friday.

 No further details regarding the group’s future plans were disclosed in the booklet.

According to Muawiya, Punjabi Taliban will continue to their operation in Afghanistan under the guidance of Afghan Taliban supreme leader Mullah Mohammad Omar.

The Taliban group in Afghanistan has not commented regarding the announcement by Punjabi Taliban so far.

According to reports, the Punjabi Taliban is active in Punjab which is one of the wealthiest and most crowded provinces of Pakistan.
