Saudi Arabia Pledges 1.5m Aid to ARCS

KABUL: (MEP) – Most of the world countries have decided to make their charitable donations reach the needy Afghan families through the Afghan Red Crescent Society.

Based on a cooperation agreement signed Tuesday with ARCS, Saudi Arabia pledged assistance of $1.5 million dollars for 20,000 Afghan needy families.

This comes as the Canadian, Norwegian, Japanese and Swedish Red Cross societies have already decided to make their donations through Afghan Red Crescent Society.

In a press conference, ARCS President Fatima Gilani welcomed the donations, expecting more from Saudi Arabia and other Muslim Countries.

“We expect more from Saudi Arabia, we welcome these donations, we need broader fundamental donations,” said ARCS head.

She welcomed the countries intending to make their donations through Afghan Red Crescent Society.

“Most of the countries have decided to make their donations through ARCS because it has more than forty thousand volunteers.”
