Security Forces Clears Villages in Maiwand District, Kandahar

KABUL (MEP) – In a targeted operation, security and defense forces cleared a number of villages in Maiwand district of Kandahar province.

The operation was launched in parts of Maiwand district for several days, and today Sunday, November 17, a number of villages were cleared of armed opposition

Interior Ministry said in a newsletter that during the operation, the Shalghami, Qala Shahmir and Rangrizan villages were cleared of armed opposition and several of their communication channels in the village of Mandozi were destroyed.

According to the newsletter, five armed Taliban were killed and four others were wounded in the operation.

The Interior Ministry says another key operation in Maiwand district arrested a key member of the armed Taliban and destroyed several of their hideouts and destroyed dozens of mines.

The armed Taliban have not commented so far.
