KABUL: (MEP) Local officials said on Sunday that at least 20 insurgents were killed and 40 other insurgents were injured in a military operation by security forces in northern Sar-e-Pul province.
Provincial Police Chief, Abdul Qayoum Baqizoy said, the operation was launched in Aqso area of Sayead, Adrang, Balghali, Lati, Qal-e-Sokhta and Dar-e-Sultan areas of the province and ended on Saturday.
He also added that a number of villages have also been cleared of insurgents.
However, he did not provide details regarding the casualties of security forces.
Meanwhile, officials of the provincial council said that Laghman and Sokhta villages are not yet cleared of the insurgents.
Sar-e-Pul province is one of the restive province in the country where the anti-government insurgents are frequently active in key districts and are trying to target the security forces.
