Security forces ready to ensure security of likely election runoff: Karimi
KABUL: (MEP) – Chief of Army Staff, Sher Muhammad Karimi, said that Afghan security forces were ready to ensure foolproof security of likely runoff voting.
National Security Council (NSC) held its session under the chairmanship of President Hamid Karzai the other day.
The Minister of Defense appreciated President Karzai for his full-throated support for Afghan security forces. He said that enhancing capability of Afghan forces was in top priorities of the ministry.
The minister also voiced his satisfaction with the security transition process. “Four phases of the national process were completed successfully and the fifth round, which is focused on bordering areas, is underway,” he added.
Sher Muhammd Karimi briefed the session on gains of Afghan security forces and said that Afghan troops were ready to ensure security of likely runoff polls.
