Signing of security accord anticipated: Rasmussen
KABUL: (MEP) – NATO Secretary General has said that he hopes the Security Agreement between Kabul and Washington will be soon signed by the new President of Afghanistan.
Anders Fogh Rasmussen said he believes that the Afghan security forces are capable of maintaining the complete security of Afghanistan.
Rasmussen also said that the ability of Afghan forces in dispel Taliban efforts to disrupt the Presidential election speaks volumes about their ability to stand up to all security challenges.
“I am sure that the security accord will soon be signed.” said Rasmussen.
Meanwhile, a committee from the British House of Commons has submitted a report asking the new President of Afghanistan to enter into the security pact with Washington at the earliest.
According to the committee, lasting peace in Afghanistan can only be achieved by means of a peace dialogue with the Taliban.
