Six Civilians Killed And Injured In Jawzjan

MEP: In two separate incidents in Faizabad district of Jawzjan province, six people, including three civilians were killed and five others, including three civilians were wounded.

Mohammad Reza Ghafuri, spokesman for the governor of Jawzjan told the Middle East Press, the two incidents happened last night and this morning in Faizabad district.

In the first incident, a roadside bomb blast killed three civilians, including a woman and two children and three other civilians, including a child was wounded, he said.

Ghafuri stated that this incident occurred in the village of Kukeldash of Faizabad district when they were passing the area to attend a wedding ceremony.

Jawzjan governor’s spokesman also said that as a result of the National Police and the uprising forces clashes with the armed Taliban in the same village, fourteen people including 11 members of the armed Taliban were killed and dozens more were injured.

Ali Quli, Police Chief for Mingajik District of Jawzjan province along with two of his guards were also killed in the clashes and two soldiers belonging to the uprising forces wounded, he added.

Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman has also written on his Twitter account that five police checkpoints in the village Kukeldash have been seized.
