Social Association of Women Journalists Opened In Baghlan
MEP: Social Association of Afghan women journalists was officially inaugurated in Pul-e Khumri, the capital of Baghlan province.
The association was opened this morning (16 November 2016) and its office was also created in the city.
The development comes as women in the province have little presence in the media.
Shafiqa Habibi, head of the Association for Afghan journalist Women, who came in the province to the opening of the Forum, says that in fifteen provinces including Baghlan this forum has been opened.
She said the Association of Women Journalists held for capacity building for women and vocational training programs at the center and provinces and raise the level of women’s capacity.
Mrs Habibi with concern of the underrepresentation of women journalists in Afghan society, hopes that with the creation of this forum will highlight the contribution of women in the media in the country.
Meanwhile, Sumaya Nowrouzi one of the female journalists in Baghlan, social challenges, said the traditions of society and the security problems are of major reasons for the lack of women in media work in the province.
Baghlan province, with more than 10 audio and print media and two visual media has female journalists and male journalists also face challenges in the information section.
