KABUL: (MEP) β The South Korean government has pledged to embark on a USD 1bn project aimed at building an efficient transport system, wadsam reported.
The Afghanistan Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation (MoTCA) officials said the project would begin after 2014.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to that effect has been signed between Dr. Dawood Ali Najaf, Afghan Transport Minister, and his South Korean counterpart.
Prior to the implementation of the project, an institute for studying and reviewing the modalities of the project would be established for the Afghan and Korean experts.
βThe project will be carried in a phase-wise manner. Approximately 10 years will be needed to set-up a proper transportation system in Kabul,β said Nangyalai Qalatwal, MoTCA spokesperson.
