Taliban District Commander Shot Dead in Herat

KABUL: (Middle East Press) A senior Taliban chief was shot dead along with three other Taliban fighters by anonymous gunmen in western Herat province.

Local security officials said, Mullah Ghani Shah was shadow district chief of Pashtun Zarghoon district who was shot dead by unknown gunmen early Tuesday morning.

Provincial police spokesman, Abdul Rauf Ahmadi said the Mullah Ghani Shah was killed around 1:00 am local time in Obe district.

Ahmadi further added that the Taliban chief was involved in roadside bombings, kidnappings, shooting of government employees and security forces and other insurgency activities.

The Taliban insurgents group has not commented about the attack yet.
