KABUL: (MEP) – Sediq Sediqee, spokesman for the Ministry of Interior Affairs, responded today to remarks made by an ISAF joint commander, Lieutenant General Mark A. Milley. Lt. Gen. Milley said, “The Taliban have been defeated and their leftovers aren’t capable to create crisis.”
He added, “However, the Taliban will probably increase their attacks within Afghanistan.”
Lt. General Milley’s reference to the possibility that the Taliban would increase attacks after the ISAF forces have withdrawn was refuted by MOI spokesman Sediq Sediqee. Sediqee declared that Mr. Milley’s concerns were unwarranted. He said, “Compared to last year we are much more ready and powerful. We take all of our responsibilities seriously and we will push our final efforts through to prevent any terrorist actions.”
Mr.Sediqee said that if the International forces were serious about removing safe harbors of the Taliban that would need to be done on the other side of the Duran line. He said that such actions could prevent insecurity to overspread beyond 2014 into Afghanistan.
He said, “It is important for the stability of Afghanistan to remove terrorism safe shelters, training centers, supporting centers, and those who support those activities. Terrorism is taught at those centers, including brainwashing in Pakistan. To solve this problem and improve the security situation in Afghanistan there needs to be work done by others on the other side of the Duran line.”
Another military expert, Atiqullah Amarkhail, expressed his opinion that those who will carry out any Terrorist attacks in Afghanistan will work for the US Government. He said, “We as Afghans are thirsty for peace. Afghanistan has been drawn into a bloody war. We are anxious to prevent the Taliban from governing again. That anxiety is what is driving some to insist on the government’s signing the security agreement soon.”
Peace and security is a dream for every single Afghan after the 13 year presence of International forces in Afghanistan.
