Taliban’s Last Night Offensive Defeated In Faryab
MEP: Security officials in Faryab province announced the defeat of Taliban’s last night operations over security checkpoints in Maimana city.
The operations were conducted in Shirin Tagab and Qaisar districts.
Faryab police spokesman Abdul Karim Youresh told the Middle East Press, the armed Taliban have begun their offensive last night from three positions that faced with resistance from security forces.
Youresh said two members of the armed Taliban were killed and two others wounded in Qaisar district, while in Shirin Tagab district, seven of them were killed and 10 others wounded.
According to Faryab police spokesman, nearly 20 members of Taliban were also killed and wounded in Maimana city.
In last night’s clashes in the city of Maimana a woman was killed by Taliban fire.
Taliban’s attacks have intensified over the capital of Faryab province and its districts came as the government troops led by General Abdul Rashid Dostum, Vice-President of the country are in an attempt to retake Ghormach district of the province.
