Telecom development linked to BSA: MCIT

KABUL: (MEP) – The Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) between Kabul and Washington is necessary for Afghanistan’s security which is a vital need for telecom development.

Expressing these statements, the minister of communications and information technology has warned if the BSA is not signed, the past-decade gains in the field of telecommunications can be lost.

Ameerzai Sangeen stated that the development of telecommunication in Afghanistan was linked to the security and security was linked to proposed pact between Afghanistan and US.

“We expect the security agreement with America will help bring peace and security in Afghanistan and it is a vital need of the country,” Sangeen told reporters.

Earlier this week, the interior minister Muhammad Omar Daudzai also insisted on immediate finalization of BSA.

He said, “We want our friend and ally country America to send a delegation to Kabul as soon as possible in order to begin talks on BSA and bring an end to the state of confusion.”

Though, the advisory meeting of Loya Jirga held on BSA approved the security agreement with US, President Hamid Karzai refused to ink the accord unless US stopped raiding Afghan civilian homes.
