Terrorist attacks foiled in capital Kabul

KABUL: (MEP) – Terrorist attack plots aimed to disturb the Ashura day and national grand council (Loya Jirga) on Afghan-US security deal was foiled by Afghan security forces.

Kabul police officials said Afghan security forces have discovered and seized some explosives during military operations from various parts of Kabul province, khaama reported.

Javid Jabali, Executive Assistant for the General Directorate of Police Special Unit (GDPSU) said the explosives were recently transported by militants in capital Kabul in a bid to carry out attacks on Ashura Day and national grand council (Loya Jirga).

Mr. Jabali further added that the explosives were seized from Pul-e-Charkhi, Paghman and Bagrami areas of capital Kabul and is in custody for further investigation.

Without disclosing further information regarding the amount and type of explosives, Javid Jabali said, a suspected militant was also arrested in connection to the transport of explosives in capital Kabul.

This comes as Afghan interior minister; Omar Daudzai on Tuesday said that the Afghan security forces foiled two separate terrorist attack plots aimed to target the national grand council meeting.
