Tight Security Measures For The Opening Of New Parliament Building

KABUL: (MEP) An intense security measures were taken by the security forces around the new building of parliament, although time still remains for the opening of the House.

The new parliament building was built by India and will be officially opened tomorrow Friday December 25, 2015.

Indian Express Newspaper said Thursday that Narendra Modi, Indian Prime Minister would present in the opening ceremony of the parliament.

The construction work of the new parliament building started in 2009 by India’s premier government-owned construction agency Central Public Works Department (CPWD) with an estimated construction cost of $90 million.

The building work was originally scheduled to start in 2007 and was expected to finish in 2011, but due to reasons the construction work has been completed this year and will be put into operation.  

The building comprises of Parliament Block having two large assembly halls, with dome of 32 meters diameter and 14.5 meters height over main assembly hall, entrance hall, general purpose wing, a basement and a separate multi-purpose service block. The number of storeys in Parliament block varies from two to three above the artificially elevated ground level excluding basement.
