Uruzgan Province Under Attack Of 900 Taliban Insurgents

KABUL: (Middle East Press) Heavy clashes in central Uruzgan province continue as Taliban militants began coordinated attacks in Khas district of Uruzgan.

According to local officials, around 900 Taliban insurgents have taken part in the offensive which was launched five days ago.

District police chief, Nazar Mohammad, said foreign militants including Punjabis are also among the Taliban militants who are in conficts with the Afghan soldiers.

Mohammad further added that heavy fatalities have been incurred to the Taliban insurgents during the clashes.

At least four local Taliban commanders were among the 40 killed during the clashes, while nearly 15 others were wounded, said Nazar Mohammad.

According to him, at least one Afghan soldier was also killed and four others including a policeman and three Afghan soldiers were injured following the clashes.

The Taliban militants have not commented about the report so far.
