US citizens are warned to remain vigilant and “exercise extreme caution” while moving around the country, according to the embassy message.
The emergency message for US citizens contained no further details regarding the targets, timing, or method of the planned attack.
“The security situation in Afghanistan is extremely unstable, and the threat to all US citizens in Afghanistan remains critical. US citizens currently visiting or residing in Afghanistan may wish to consider departing,” the message added.
The warning comes on the heels of a new Travel Warning for Afghanistan that the US Department of State issued for its citizens on November 19.
