Women Role In Electoral Commissioner Choice

MEP: Abdullah Abdullah, the chief executive of the National Unity Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has said that the role of women in the electoral commissions will be considered in the selection of commissioners.

Mr. Abdullah on Wednesday afternoon met with a number of representatives of youth and women from Free and Fair Elections Foundation of Afghanistan (FEFA).

The directors of the women and youth expressed appreciation of the efforts and support of the chief executive and said the Free and Fair Election Foundation of Afghanistan has completed a comprehensive research for litigation in the areas of political participation of women and youth, especially in elections.

In this study, based on consultation and dialogue in all provinces, achievements, challenges and barriers to participating in the upcoming elections is pathology. They shared the results of the research in two seasons and few months with CEO Abdullah.

Participants of the program urged CEO Abdullah to take sustained action in strengthening political participation of women and youth, challenges and obstacles, the introduction of women worthy and capable to create belief in the ability of women in society, the role of women in committees of electoral commissions, cooperation among the relevant institutions in the field of awareness of women’s political rights, electoral reform and distribution of electronic ID cards.

Abdullah said the government with all the power tries to consider the proposals on strengthening the political participation of women and youth, the role of women in electoral commissions, electoral reform and other areas, especially in the role of women in electoral choice Commissioner and direct the concerned officials to take the issue seriously.
