Women’s Political Participation, The Fight Against Violence
MEP: Chief Executive Officer of the National Unity Government in a statement to mark the International Day against Violence against Women has said that one way to combat violence, is political participation of women.
The statement by Abdullah Abdullah office published today, states that the International Day against Violence against Women in order to public information in the fight against violence against women is celebrated as a religious and national duty.
Afghanistan is one of the countries with alarming levels of violence against women and Afghan women are always the victims, the statement added.
Dr Abdullah says that this is contrary to Islamic values of the country exhibited a misogynist image and the National Unity Government in combating violence against women in all sectors of their rights, especially seeks in women’s political participation and is committed to it.
One way to combat violence, the political participation of women is pervasive in this regard that the government has implemented practical steps for the active role of women in government ministries, embassies and other government agencies, which is however not enough, the statement noted.
Meanwhile, CEO Abdullah called on all civil and cultural institutions, particularly Cram scholars who are highly effective in this field, to be involved in the 16-day campaign to fight violence and women’s awareness of their rights.
Chief Executive Officer also urged the Afghan people as a religious duty, not to ban their girls from education in schools and universities.
On the other hand, Abdullah has directed the judicial institutions to deal firmly and seriously in the rule of law and punishment of the perpetrators of violence.
The 16-day campaign against violence against women has been launched last week and women’s ministry is trying to reduce the level of violence against women in the country by throwing this program.
