15 Civilians Killed in Ukraine’s east Shelling: Donetsk PM
KABUL: (Middle East Press) The prime minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic says over a dozen civilians have been killed in gunfire in Donetsk.
Aleksandr Zakharchenko said Saturday that shelling in the city has left at least 15 civilians dead over the past 24 hours.
According to the Donetsk city council, two residential households were destroyed by the artillery fire and a pumping station was hit, leaving several employees injured.
Volodymyr Polyovy, a spokesman for Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, reported on the same day that at least two government forces have been killed and three others wounded in fighting with pro-Russia forces in Donetsk.
Moscow and Kiev agreed upon a truce in Donetsk last month.
Both sides have accused each other of violating the ceasefire since it was signed on September 5. The ceasefire followed several months of deadly clashes in the east.
According to the latest figures by the United Nations, over 3,700 people have been killed and at least 9,000 others injured in the conflict in eastern Ukraine during the past six months.
