2 arrested, Ammunition seized in Kandahar

KABUL: (MEP) – Afghan security forces seized big cache of weapons and ammunition in southern province of Kandahar, the national directorate for security said Thursday.

The arms and ammunitions had been found in restive Panjwaye district, where the national directorate for security (NDS) personnel and local police had seized the devices included four AK-47, one PK machinegun, 100 kg of gunpowder, Kandahar governor office said in a statement.

According to the statement, two people were seized for the accusation of hiding the arms and ammunitions, said the governor office in a statement adding the couple were under investigation.

64 anti-vehicle mines had also been found by local police in Talkan and Zangabad areas of the district, the statement added.

The insurgents had not still commented on the report.
