2 contracts for street construction projects signed

KABUL: (MEP) – Two contracts for street construction projects have been signed between the ministry of public works and private companies.

“The first project is the construction of a street to connect the Mirwais Mina town to the main road.  The length of the road will be over 2 kilometers and will cost more than 37 million dollars which will be financed from the development budget of the government,” said the deputy minister of finance and public works administration.

The second project is the construction of the two way street of Kabul-Parwan at a distance of over 9 kilometers.  It will be constructed at a cost of $68 million and 17,000 Afghanis from the state’s budget.

Abdul Hadi Rafee, the deputy finance and administration of public work administration said the companies they contracted with must be up to date on the taxes they owe.

According to him, those companies that do not pay their taxes cannot participate in doing work on the projects.

Noor Gul Mangal, technical deputy of the minister of public works administration said that the street constructed by the private companies has a one year guarantee and if these streets are destroyed during the one year the companies will have to repair them again.

The ministry of public works also announced the opening of the Salang Highway to the traffic.
