KABUL: (MEP) – At least sex armed oppositions and one border guard was killed in a clash between security forces and armed Taliban in eastern province of Nangarhar, an official said Monday.

A police officer, Col. Massum Khan Hashemi told Wakht News Agency the conflict erupted in Pachiragam district, where a security checkpoint known as Pachir was attacked by militants.

Six insurgents and a border police official were killed when the police returned fire on the attackers, said the official.

But, an eyewitness, Seddiqullah said the rebels first attacked the police checkpoint in the district, with supportive border forces were called for help hitting an ambush from the militants.

One border guard was killed and another wounded in the incident, said the eyewitness adding the fighters have also suffered heavy life losses, but didn’t make the exact number clear.

The armed Taliban had not still commented on the report.

Elsewhere, in Bathi Kot district yesterday, several armed rebels were killed and wounded.
