Helmand Traffic Accident Kills Footballers

KABUL: (MEP) – Local Helmand officials on Monday confirmed the death of three Gereshk Football Team players in a traffic accident. Another teammate and passenger in the car was injured, Tolo reported.

The officials said the vehicle was overturned on the Lashkar Gah-Gereshk highway.

Helmand Governor’s spokesman, Omar Zawak, said that the incident took place on Sunday evening while the players were traveling to Gereshk district after ending a football match.

The exact cause of the accident is not yet known, but authorities suggested it was likely due to negligence on the part of the driver.
