67 % US citizens believes Afghan war isn’t worth of fighting

KABUL: (MEP) – According to the latest poll public criticisms of the war in Afghanistan have reached new highs after almost 12 years into the conflict, khaama reported.

ABC News/Washington Post in its latest poll revealed that 67 per cent of Americans agree that the war in Afghanistan hasn’t been worth fighting, which numerically exceeds the most who said the same about the war in Iraq, 66 percent in April 2007.

The poll further reveals that only 28 per cent of Americans believe the war was worth fighting, but an unexpected 53 per cent are against removing all troops from the country.

The participants of the poll for the first time have said the war has not contributed to U.S. security than say it has, with 43 percent say the war has contributed to the long-term security of the country, down by 8 points since March, to the fewest in five polls since mid-2010.

In the meantime only 17 percent say the war has contributed “a great deal” to long-term security. Both these, again, are numerically lower than the lowest ratings for the effect of the Iraq war.

It is worth noting that the United States has seen the deaths of over 2,100 troops since the beginning of the Afghanistan War in 2001, according to military records. By comparison, over 4,400 US soldiers have died since the beginning of the Iraq War.
