8 members of a family killed in Kandahar explosion

at least eight civilians belonging to a single family were killed following an explosion in southern Kandahar province of Afghanistan.

According to local government officials, the incident took place early Saturday in Panjwai district after a civilian vehicle struck with an improvised explosive device (IED).

The officials further added that women and children were also among those killed following the blast and two children were injured.

Panjwai district chief, Fazal Ahmad Ishaqzai said preliminary investigations shows that the victims of the incident were members of a single family.

No group including the Taliban militants has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.
