83 militants kills in Logar and Nangarhar by Afghan army operations
KABUL: (MEP) – At least 83 anti-government armed militants were killed during the major military offensive launched by Afghan national army in eastern Logar and Nangarhar province of Afghanistan, Kaama reported.
The ministry of defense of Afghanistan confirmed that the 83 militants were killed during the “Simurgh” military operaton in Azra and Hesarak districts.
The operations were launched about 7 days ago in Azra district of Logar province and Hesarak district of Nangarahr province, and Afghan security forces still continue to their operations.
Deputy spokesman for the ministry of defense of Afghanistan, Dawlat Waziri said that Afghan security forces have also seized some weapons and explosives during the operations.
The operation called “Simurgh” is the first major military operation conducted by Afghan national army in Azra district of eastern Logar and Nangarhar provinces.
Top Afghan military office Gen. Afzal Aman said the operation was launched after considerable growth of militants activities in Azra district which led to complaints by local residents.
Gen. Aman further added that the militants were looking to destabilize Kabul, Logar, Paktiya and Nangarhar provinces of Afghanistan along with Kabul-Nangarhar highway.
