Zsa Zsa Gabor, Famous Hollywood Actress Dies At 99

MEP: Zsa Zsa Gabor, the Hungarian actress whose self-parodying glamour and revolving-door marriages to millionaires put a luster of American celebrity on a long but only modestly successful career in movies and television, died Sunday, said her former longtime publicist Ed Lozzi. She was 99.

Her husband, Frederic von Anhalt, said she died of a heart attack.

“We tried everything, but her heart just stopped and that was it,” he said. “Even the ambulance tried very hard to get her back, but there was no way.”

Born in Hungary, she immigrated to the United States during World War Two and made her Hollywood debut in 1952. She was married nine times.

The actress had been hospitalized numerous times since 2010, when she broke her hip in a fall. In 2011, her leg was amputated.
