U.S. And Russia’s Tensions Over Afghanistan ‘Again’

MEP: The United States of America has once again expressed concern of Moscow’s activities in Afghanistan and criticized Russia’s recent contacts with the armed Taliban.

James Mattis, US Defense Minister in London, said that Russia had contacted and the country’s activities in Afghanistan and its cooperation with armed opposition groups of Kabul government is certainly of concern to America.

Although Moscow has repeatedly denied allegations of America on relations with the armed Taliban, but before that, General Joseph Votel, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) in America’s Congress accused Russia of supporting the armed Taliban.

However, a number of high-ranking officials in Moscow uncovered Russia’s relations with the armed Taliban and said the relationship is to overcome the ISIS/ISIL terrorist group and prevent its influence in Central Asia.

Backyard power of Moscow and Washington

Afghanistan and the crises that parts of which were resolved because of the lack of efficient management of its leaders, and become even tougher than in the past, has turned into the backyard of America and Russia’s power.

The United States with the permission of the United Nations and with the fight against terrorism and al-Qaeda reached in Afghanistan and with all the huge costs it has done, only expanded corruption and is still remain in the country.

The presence of US was not pleasant for a number of neighboring countries and regions such as Russia and these countries have repeatedly tried to disrupt the influence and provide a presence for themselves.

This has led Afghanistan to become the backyard to test the programs of authoritarian countries in the region, especially Moscow and Washington.

If the lack of decisive management of government leaders added to this, we should continue to see the power and the people are the main victims of this power.

Afghan peace talks in Moscow

The tension between US and Russia to their mutual activities in Afghanistan is arising more than before that Moscow is expected to host Afghan peace talks next month.

The talks will be attended by representatives from Afghanistan, Russia, China, Iran, Pakistan and India to find a way to Afghan peace.

Although it’s hoped to have a good outcome of this meeting, we should expect it to hold up Russia’s influence on the armed Taliban to show their effect.
