ICC T20 World Cup: Afghanistan beats Hong Kong by 7 wickets

KABUL: (MEP) – The Afghanistan national cricket team defeated Hong Kong by seven wickets during its second match in ICC World T20 at Chittagong on Tuesday.

Hong Kong set a target of 154 runs from 20 overs and by losing eight wickets. Hong Kong won the toss and elected to bat first.

Shapoor Zadran, Hamza Hotak and Mohammad Nabi took two wickets each while Dawlat Zadran took one wicket to restrict the Hong Kong batsmen in 153 runs.

The Afghan opening batsman made 68 runs from 53 balls by hitting 6 fours and 3 sixes, while Najeeb Tarakai made only 7 runs from 6 balls.

Shafiqullah remained not out after scoring 51 runs from 24 balls by hitting 5 fours and 3 sixes, along with the Afghan captain Mohammad Nabi who scored 6 runs from 5 balls.

Asghar Stanikzai scored 13 runs from 24 balls and was caught out in Aizaz Khan’s ball.

Afghanistan is expected to face Nepal at Chittagong on March 20 during the 9th match of ICC World T20 match.
