KABUL: (MEP) – Sardar Ahmad, veteran Afghan reporter working with Agence France-Presse (AFP), was killed along with his wife and two of their children by gunmen at the luxury Serena Hotel in the capital’s center, the latest attack to underscore security arrangements ahead of the April elections.
The Free Media Watch for Afghanistan (NAI) has strongly condemned the killing of Afghan Journalist, Sardar Ahmad, along his family in Serena Hotel on Thursday.
The head of NAI, Sidiqullah Tawhidi said, “This terrorist attack is a clear act of genocide.”
He also demanded that all local media boycott Taliban for 15 days and refrain from providing them any news coverage.
He said, “During the past 13 years, Afghan media has remained unbiased in their reporting, regardless if it was the Government or Taliban, however this could not help to save the journalist’s life.
According to Sidiqullah, the illegal release of Taliban prisoners from Bagram Jail has caused a sudden rise in terrorist activities.
