About 50 children involved in hard work helped go to school in Nangarhar

KABUL: (MEP) – Children involved in unbearable work were rescued and helped go to school in eastern province of Nangarhar, an official said.

Director of works and labor affairs, Abdul Hakim Shirzad told that the children situation had improved compared with the past in the province and efforts are being made to further improve their lives.

Blaming the parents for negligence over their children he said in cooperation with some aid agencies the children in Sararoad district of the province were provided with school essentials.

The cases of those children had been detained and kept in the Pakistani jail have been addressed and many of them had been released and handed over to their families.

He said over 3,000 children have been helped get enrolled in school or kept under training in the provincial rozantoon (education center).

Shirzad said, in addition to the provincial capital, the program had been extended to some other districts, where a number of children have been provided with Islamic teachings sponsored by Saudi Arabia, wakht news reported.

Despite the commitment of the provincial authorities to do more for children, hundreds of them are still forced to work in auto-workshops and brick kilns in the province to win bread for their families.
