Activists Ask Karzai Avoid Calling Taliban ‘Brothers’
KABUL: (MEP) – Dozens of civil society activists staged rally in Kabul against tragic Kunar attack, demanding President Hamid Karzai to avoid calling the Taliban as ‘brothers’.
Strongly denouncing the killing of ANA Soldiers in eastern Kunar province, the activists urged President Karzai to support the Afghan forces and the victims’ families.
Chanting the slogans “President either is with us or with Taliban” the rally participants demanded the government to have a clear position on the enemies of Afghanistan.
“Taliban are never our brothers, they are killing our innocent citizens, we never forgive their crimes,” said a female participant.
At least 21 Afghan National Army (ANA) Soldiers were killed early Sunday morning after tens of armed insurgents attacked two check-posts in eastern Kunar.
Two days later, the Ministry of Defense sacked nine senior military officers because of their negligence to the Taliban threats they received before the attack.
