MEP: The Afghan military forces have killed a prominent Pakistani consultant to the Taliban following clearance operations in Qaisar district of Faryab province.
In addition, 14 other armed Taliban militants, including a citizen of Uzbekistan were also killed and 17 others injured.
Karim Youresh, a spokesman for Faryab police chief told the Middle East News Agency the operation was launched in the past 24 hours in key areas of the district.
He said the villages of Arkelek, Toymast, Zafarnya, Baidaki and Khawaja-Zyaratgah were cleared of armed opposition and normal life is flowing there.
“During the operation, 14 armed Taliban, including a Pakistani consultant named Maulvi Noor Allah, Sheikh Neda deputy and a citizen of Uzbekistan, Taliban member were killed and 17 others were injured” Youresh added.
Two bodies of Taliban remained on the battlefield and their equipment has fallen to the security forces.
Based on the data source, two of the popular uprising forces were also injured in the operations.
Qaisar district of Faryab province is considered one of the most insecure areas which has also been witnessing sporadic clashes recently.
