Afghan under -16 Football team makes it to the semi-final of South Asian Championship
KABUL: (MEP) – The Afghan U-16 football team will face India in the semi-final of the South Asian Championship on Sunday in Nepal, Wadsam reported.
After the Afghan team’s win against Bhutan, it qualified for the semi-finals from Group A. Nepal will now join Afghanistan in Group A after they defeated Pakistan 3-0.
On Saturday, Bangladesh will play against Nepal. Afghanistan’s previous matches against Pakistan and Nepal ended in a draw.
23 Afghan football players will participate in the competition which began on July 20. The Afghan team is being led by Ali Ahmad. Two coaches, one doctor and a supervisor will accompany the team.
Two Afghan referees Saleh Mohammad and Adibullah Haidari from the US also participated in this Championship.
Matches are being played between seven South Asian national football teams. Afghanistan has faced Pakistan, Nepal and Bhutan from Group A. Other countries participating in the tournament are Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka.
