Afghanistan received two C-130 aircraft
KABUL: (MEP) – The United States of America on Wednesday given two C-130 aircrafts to the ministry of defense of Afghanistan as part of the rehabilitation of the Afghan Air Force.
Afghan defense minister, Gen. Bismillah Mohammadi welcomed the support of United States to Afghanistan and said that the United States will provide further aircraft to Afghanistan by the end of the current year, Khaama reported.
Gen. Bismillah Mohammadi further added that much support was needed for the Afghan Air Force despite considerable achievements was made in ground forces of Afghanistan.
In the meantime, the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) commander, Gen. Joseph Dunford said that the Afghan Air Force will receive further assistance in the future.
This comes as Afghan defense officials earlier in August announced that United States will provide 24 C-130 aircraft to Afghan Air Force in the near future.
The officials further added that the C-130 aircraft will be delivered besides the purchase of 20 super Tucano aircraft which have already been purchased and will be delivered to the air force.
Defense officials also added that United States will provide small drones to Afghan air force, which will be used by Afghan army for reconnaissance missions.
