al-Abadi: Turkey Cannot Participate In Mosul Operation
MEP: Iraq’s Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi has said in a statement that would allow the Turkish troops to participate in the liberation of Mosul.
Alsumaria News cited al-Abadi as saying in a television program, “only Iraqi forces in the liberation of the country from ISIS are involved.”
Abadi said the Turkish forces are only foreign military force in Iraq and the presence of these forces means aggression against the sovereignty of Iraq.
“We will never allow Turkish troops to participate in the liberation of Mosul, neither in the planning nor in its implementation; we do not need foreign troops on the ground to fight on behalf of us,” he added.
This comes as Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said yesterday that the country does not intend to withdraw its forces from the camp of Basheqa until complete liberation of Mosul in northern Iraq. Turkish army will participate in the liberation of Mosul.
Erdogan also said, calling for the withdrawal of Turkish troops from Iraq, is commands from strangers to Haider al-Abadi.
