Attack On CARE Institution In Kabul Ends With Deaths Of Gunmen

MEP: After eleven hours of fighting, the suicide attackers’ siege at the CARE Foundation in Shahr-e-Naw area of Kabul city ended and the assailants were also killed.

The incident occurred at 11:10 pm when suicide attackers entered the building by detonating an explosive initially at the gate of the building and later clashed with security forces.

Officials in the Ministry of Interior say the attack after eleven hours of fighting, has ended at 10:00 am this morning.

Sediq Sediqi, spokesman for the Ministry of Internal Affairs wrote in his Twitter account that the attackers were killed and the attack is over.

He did not provide details about the losses arising from the attack, but a number of media have quoted Sediqi that a civilian was killed and six others wounded during the attack.

However, roads to Shahr-e-Naw, Macrorayan, Wazir Akbar Khan areas have been blocked by security forces.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

The attack comes just hours after twin deadly explosions took place at the compound of Ministry of Defense leaving 24 people dead and 91 other wounded.
