Burglary, insecurity complained at Kabul-Kandahar Highway
KABUL: (MEP) – A number of passengers and drivers travelling by Kabul-Kandahar highway have complained of burglary, insecurity and harassment by the local police.
Besides increased roadside bombing and armed clashes, they complained they were either looted by the robbers or extorted by the local police.
According to the drivers, there is no law and order situation in this highway.
“There is no government and police in this highway. Robbery and looting is on the rise. The local police themselves become robbers at the night,” a driver told.
The police chief of Ghazni, however, rejected the claims as groundless. He said he had not yet received such complaints, Ariana news reported.
Police Chief Mohiuddin Sarwar called on the drivers and passengers to inform the police checkpost in case of robbery or extortion by local police.
