Candidates Sign Unity Government Agreement
KABUL: (Middle East Press) Afghan Presidential candidates Dr. Abdullah Abdullah and Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai signed national unity government agreement.
The agreement was signed by the two contenders following days of cooperation between the two candidates to reach an agreement on share of power, role of the chief executive officer and release of final vote results.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai, former jihadi leaders, cabinet members and other high level government officials presented the signing ceremony.
President Karzai congratulated the Afghan national with the signing of the national unity government and said he hopes the agreement would result to a successful Afghanistan.
He vowed to continue acting as a broker to make sure the deal between the two contenders over power sharing works.
