Economic growth in Afghanistan has failed over the past 13 years
KABUL: (MEP) – The Afghan government has lost significant opportunities to grow the economy over the past decade, says Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that Afghanistan has failed in economic growth in the past 13 years.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry has reported that Afghanistan has seen 12 billion dollars being invested in the services sector over the past 13 years. However production has not seen any such investment flow.
A Director on the Board of the Chamber of Commerce is said to believe that the primary reason for this failure is corruption.
Corruption, lack of national economic policy, lack of attention to infrastructure and failure to utilize natural resources are all considered to have played an active role in the failure of the economy.
A number of analysts say, “The plan to withdraw foreign troops from Afghanistan is linked to the poor economic growth of the country.”
The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Afghan businessmen are expecting the coming government to help resolve these long standing issues.
