Faryab’s Ghormach Fell By Armed Taliban
MEP: Ghormach district of northern Faryab province, after heavy fighting, has collapsed into the hands of armed Taliban and security forces are trying to retake it.
Sibghatullah Silab, Faryab provincial council member said the district from a week onwards was surrounded by armed Taliban.
According to him, the Taliban’s offensive attack intensified today (October 11) and Ghormach district center fell into the hands of the Taliban.
The lack of reinforcements to the security forces in the district, prompting security forces withdrew from the district, Silab added.
Based on the data source, as a result of the clashes, several shops have also been burned.
Meanwhile, Tahir Rahmani, head of Faryab’s provincial council rejected the report, says that only several security posts in the district have been occupied by the Taliban.
On the other hand, Mir Ameenullah Zahir, Faryab police chief security officer said conflict continues apace currently around the district.
Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, wrote in his Twitter account that they have captured the district of Ghormach and some ammunition were also obtained.
Collapse of the regions and districts of the country is not unprecedented and already a number of districts in Baghlan, Kunduz, Faryab and Helmand have come under control of the Taliban.
